Permits

I got approved for the fence permit and the garage permit this morning. It took some negotiating with the building official, but I got it done. I really can't understand this whole wind shear uplift thing. I'll try to post more about it so some of you can explain it to me. The premise is simple, in order to prevent a tornado from lifting a garage off its foundation the two wing walls that are next to your garage door are now required to have metal straps installed so that it is a stronger connection. Frankly if my house gets hit by a tornado I think the least of my worries will be if the garage survived. So if the weather ever clears up and the ice and snow melts off of my lumber I can get some work done.
