Estate Sale finds!

Well I took Friday off, to get some work done. While I am slowly getting all of the birch plywood installed, I am down to the small intricate pieces, so while it seems like I got a lot done this weekend the pictures don't do it justice. Friday on my way to grab a sandwich for lunch I saw a sign for an estate sale right up the street from me. Since it was around 90 on Friday, I was in no hurry to get back to work to sweat some more so I decided to stop in and see what they had to offer. I walked in and immediately saw the Knoll desk, then I walked in the living room and spied the eames Lounger. I immediately recognized the knock-off (its a plycraft knock off). Then I took a good look at the chair and the price and decided that while I would love to have the Herman Miller 50th anniversary Eames Lounge Chair (http://www.dwr.com/productdetail.cfm?id=9170) I decided that this would be just fine for 1/10 of the price. Its in extremely good shape for an old chair, I was told that it has been in storage for 15 years and was assembled for the sale. Its missing one button on the chair but the leather is in really good shape. The knoll desk is in really good shape as well. It may be a bit big for the new office/bedroom but I couldn't pass up a good deal.
The last item shown is the credenza I purchased from the original owners of my home. I don't know who made it, so if any of you have any information on any of these pieces let me know.

I've been busy, so here are some quick photos to show the current state of the house. This photo was taken before I installed these last four windows. They are now all in, you can see part of my kitchen cabinets. The cabinets have been delivered and hopefully I will be installing them this weekend. I would say that I'm 80% done with the wall paneling. I still have all of the smaller more time consuming pieces to put in but all of the large sheets are up in place. The paneling lightens the house up alot, its a huge improvement from the original pictures.

Someday

Well this post is dedicated to the Drummond Dinner/ Home Tour I invited you all to a few weeks ago. I found my favorite Drummond Home, its the Jones and Emmons designed Castillian. Shortly after I win the lottery it will be one of my first purcheses. The dinner on saturday night was a blast, about 100 people showed up including Don Drummond and his daughter. The KC Modern crowd is definately an eclectic bunch, but it sure makes for a fun evening. I met many other Drummond owners who live around me here in Prairie Village, Kansas and was suprised at the number of people who look at this blog.
Here is a photo of Don Drummond walking into the Castillian in the previous photo. He was full of good stories, his memory is amazing he wowed everyone by remembering details and stories from all of his homes. Somewhere around 200 people made the tours on sunday, thanks to all of the home owners who opened up their homes and let us in to take pictures. Thanks to the guys and gals that run KC Modern, you did a great job putting all of this together lets hope these tours continue.
