Wish List

I thought I would add a wish list of some materials just in case anyone who reads this blog could help me out in tracking some things down.

-I need to find some Pecky Cypress so that I can patch a few places on my exterior siding.
-I'm also on the lookout for replacement wood window sashes that are relatively cheap.

Some Exciting New Info!

First I must thank Robert McLaughlin for tracking these drawings down and being kind enough to share them with me. I've received the constructionn documents for the Revere Home, although my home isn't featured on the site plan, the other drawings are extremely accurate to my home. I'm amazed at the level of detail achieved from these set of drawings. The drawings are very accurate and comprehensive but the craft of Donald Drummond filled in many gaps in a thoughtful manner. It shows how a good contractor makes all the difference in a project and working out those small details.

$6500

Well I finally made a decision on cabinets. I looked into Kraftmaid's Venicia line but in the end they were too expensive and I couldn't customize as much as I wanted to. I am going w/ a custom cabinet shop. The cabinets will be a full overlay/european box style made in walnut. The brown and blue panels are sliders and they will be painted out once I finalize my color scheme. I went w/ formica countertops to save some money - the island bar countertop will not be formica, I'm still debating on what material to use. I've decided to use tile in this kitchen/dining floor for durability, so I'm on the lookout for a nice inexpensive Modern tile. I'm looking for the drawer pulls for the kitchen so far IKEA has the only options that are reasonably priced, please send me an email if you have any suggestions on any of these topics.

Slowly but Surely

This is a view of the new utility room, I managed to squeeze in a half bath down here. In the bedrooms I've finished framing completely and finished the drops around the ductwork. Eventually this will be split into two rooms by a cabinet that will serve as a divider. The electrical work is getting very close. Since these photos were taken the plumbing has been installed I'm getting close to scheduling my next inspection. I need to thank Dave, and Jason for their help with the plumbing and electrical. I put down a new layer of underlayment over the entire floor surfaces to help stiffen/level the existing subfloor. I'm starting to prepare for painting the ceiling so if you have any suggestions for the ceiling/beams let me know.

Well as you can imagine I've had a very busy couple of weeks. I haven't been updating as much as I should, so tonight I'm going to upload a lot of pictures and if you have any questions send me an email and I will do my best to answer them.

I've been busy the last couple of weeks. I've designed the kitchen cabinets as you see here in the images from the model. I'm still working on a way to load the model on my blog so that you all can download some free software and take a tour of the Revere Home. I had three different cabinet shops price out the cabinets you see here. The Kraftmaid Venicia line was the most expensive - so I opted to go with a custom cabinet maker. Through the same cabinet maker I've gotten a great deal on baltic birch plywood for the walls. I was torn between going with mahogany or birch and the thousand dollars I saved by switching to birch made the decision easy.

I am going to go with walnut wood on the cabinetry which should give a nice contrast to the cork flooring and birch walls. I've picked most of the lighting in the last couple of weeks along with the plumbing fixtures. So far I am on budget (which my dad thinks is to high - he calls it my 1100 sq.ft. million dollar home).

Here is a view of the new bathroom in its preliminary stage. By moving the ductwork I was able to simplify the chase and use it to help frame the space of the vanity. The model should be making significant progress in the next few days so I will try to upload some more images asap. I'll upload some pictures from this weekend - I will have the framing completely done and I've poured concrete over the new plumbing in the guestbath/utility room.
